  • WATERPROOFING SYSTEMS

Waterproofing is a term to describe the protection of a surface from the violent water inflow in a certain place. Our company applies insulation and waterproofing systems in a number of various structures such as:

  • Waterproof tubs.
  • Basement walls.
  • Water tanks and swimming-pools.
  • Housetops and roofed patios.
  • Metal structures.

Waterproof tubs.

Water permeance including vapor can cause serious damage to the surface of almost any structure resulting in a number of nasty situations like:

  • Corrosion and decay.
  • Chemical corrosion and oxidation of the metal parts of reinforced concrete.
  • Appearance of spots and stains.
  • Development of plant life and yellow moss.

As mentioned above, many of these are due to the intimate interaction between dampness and the natural chemical properties of water together with the existing structural materials used. For the effective protection of the foundation of a building, when the water table is approximately at the same or even higher level or in the case of adjacency of the building to sea water, we strongly recommend the creation of a waterproof tub using synthetic PVC or bentonite membrane.

Basement walls.

Nowadays as basements are not merely used as storage purposes but in fact they contribute to the existing square footage of a building or house a total and complete waterproofing/insulation is imposed. Therefore, applying a suitable water-resistant system is necessary if we are to avoid any future problems from water inflow and desire a fully protected under-ground space. The classic method of achieving this is by using cement-based coats or bitumen (asphalt membranes).

Tanks/swimming-pools.

Waterproofing of water tanks is of great importance due to the likelihood of leakage. Having cisterns, swimming-pools and other water storage containers fully waterproofed is fundamental and necessary not just for saving water but also for avoiding side effects of  water inflow into the different compartments of a structure. The methods used can vary and according to the use of the tank (rainwater tanks, safe-water tanks, swimming-pools, etc.) special materials are applied.

Housetops & roofed patios.

Waterproofing of housetops & roofed patios is a necessary precaution for the protection of the structural materials of a building. Both waterproofing and thermal insulation constitute a very important stage in the process of optimizing the performance and durability of a structure avoiding future problems. This can be achieved by a number of ways according to the unique needs of each building either using PVC, tarmac membranes and/or water resistant polyurethane – coated membranes (liquid membrane).

Metal structures & housetops.

Waterproofing of metal structures and tops is an exceptionally demanding work and requires cautiousness as metal corrodes much quicker and easier than other materials. In this case, waterproofing can be done with the use of PVC and water-resistant polyurethane – coated membranes (liquid membrane).

Green roofs.

The idea of planting on housetops is steadily gaining ground socially as well as environmentally. Green roofs constitute a prime choice especially in urban city centers, where they function as filters of polluted air, releasing oxygen into the city web. Some examples of the advantages of planting housetops are the following :

  • Protection of the existing waterproofing system.
  • Thermal insulation & soundproofing.
  • Improvement of the environmental conditions.
  • Reduction of rainwater runoff.
  • Economy.
